Cherry Popping: Kings, Queens, Inbetweens, 2024, Curated by Kaitlin ‘Mouse’ Rikala. The partner show to our zine of the same name invited Chicago artists to share their first times, an intentionally vague prompt. Artists shared many firsts; from self-realization to self-immolation, kisses, sex, and falling from the sky.

Queering Time and Space, 2023, Curated by Kaitlin ‘Mouse’ Rikala. Our first exhibition was an exploration of queer temporality and the nature of the relationship between audience and performer. We found that queer temporality greatly informs queer identity formation, particularly within a performance environment. This exhibition allowed us to explore how the concept of time and space can be ‘queered’ to create an inclusive and empowering environment for queer performers and audiences. Queering Time and Space included a diverse range of performances, from drag shows to experimental theater, that challenged traditional notions of gender and sexuality. The exhibition included showings of clips and stills from Personal Ad (1995) by Cathay Che, Elemental Gender and “Girls Will Be Boys Will Be Queens” (1986) by Diane Torr, Lynn Cazabon’s Spot (1998) as well as Kim Irwin and Jody Oberfelder’s Wanted X-Cheerleaders (1994) in a space designed to reflect the performances.
